Whale watching outing from Boston

Went on the Boston Aquarium half day outing, mainly for the birds, though the feeding humpbacks and minke were great. Birds seen were as follows:
double crested cormorant
common loon
eider duck
common tern
herring gull
great black backed gull
gannet
sotty shearwater
great shearwater
corys shearwater
wilsons/leaches petrel (presumably - only one petrel got close enough to id and that was a wilsons on water showing white on rump)
No manx shearwaters or alcids for some reason...
One unidentifiable skua-type - probably arctic skua.

I would bring a scope next time - when the boat slows down to check out the whales the vibrations on the engine are low enough to make a scope usable...

Some nice birds and I wouldn't mind the whales, too !
