I reckon that you might be luckier in December than I was last March: spent 2 days searching in vain, but the Mistral didn't help! Alpine Accentors are easy in the village itself in the early morning also.

I've seen them in early Janruary. I think you should be alright.
The alpine accs are great there. Blue rock thrush and Crag martin if you are lucky.
The best way of seeing WC was to look right up and down the valley from the town and when you spot one drive round to the cliff it was on. If they are showing it can they can be seen from quite a long way away.
