World Trip Reports

Urban France

I just got back from France yesterday, and I managed a nice list of species, and one lifer. I also saw a funny white headed female House Sparrow.

Mute Swan
Tufted Duck
Mallard
Common Moorhen
Eurasian Coot
Great Tit
Blue Tit
European Chaffinch (very different looking from British ssp)
European Greenfinch
House Sparrow
Black-headed Gull
European Kestrel (Lots!)
Carrion Crow
Black-Billed Magpie
Eurasian Skylark
Northern Lapwing
European Robin (the back of this bird was practically grey! looks so different to the British ssp)
Dunnock
Short-toed Treecreeper (lifer) ID by song
European Goldcrest (His crest brightened Disneyland)

I have a couple of brilliant, world class photos of rare birds I will post in a minute, they are downloading.

I just remembered as I was posting that thread I saw a Herring Gull with a silver ring on its leg at the Eurostar Tunnel in Dartford (very tame bird)

Hi Jake...

Is your list from just Paris?

Took a trip out there in a previous life (ie before "serious" birding) but didn't see much other than pigeons.

Wasn't looking though!

Would like to return...well it's Paris isn't it!!!... but also to try a day's birding in the Bois du Bologne - or however it's spelt!!!

When they get the flights going from the new airport...!!!

Nice one with the STTC... just seen our version today... tried to 'scope it to see if I could identify any of the plumage differences, but it scarpered before I was ready. Great little birds though!
