hi everyone
well my trip got off to a absolute nightmare.on the second day there i was informed my house was robbed and they trashed it good style they emptied evrything out,drawers cushions matress,cupboards,freezer/fridge,vases you name it it was searched and stole everything they could get ther hands on even my car and also a lot of the wifes valubles jewelry etc.anyways that shook us up a bit so we missed out on a few days.the place we stayed at was the playa paraiso (10 to 15 mins drive from los americas).the first bird my wife saw was the tenerife chiff chaff about 7 in all and that really made a smile on her face.these where in a small valley next to the hotel which also had a white throat knocking about and 3 kestrels.near the front of the hotel the area was very rocky and thats where we saw the berthelots pipit several times.3 types of gull (im not clued up on sea birds to good) they looked like greater black backed,herring gull and common gull but one of them had yellow wing tips on the primaries (the on that looked like a herring gull).whimbrel was also near the shore along with what looked like a common sandpiper.in and around the plantions near the hotel we saw the spanish sparrow,black bird,canary.european roller,2 types of dove,greenfinch,hoopoe and the grey shrike.we went on the dolphin trip and saw the bottle nosed dolphins at gigantes where we also saw 4 ospreys flying around the massive cliffs plus plenty of gulls and not to much at sea (was hoping for few more sea birds) but sadly not to much about and thats about it as we didint get up to the volcano on this trip but maybe next time we might have a bit more luck.please remember if your going out if you have a safe in your house use it as the alarm didnt bring any assistance and also that burglars are rare and we where just unlucky take all everyone.
ps my wifes just reminded me we saw some parrots/parakeets that maybe some one could help id.these where in los americas and making a large amount of noise they where lime green to dark green on the body with what looked like a pale cresent (was maybe 15 of them) on the chest the cresent might have just been ruffled feathers and seemed to have a dark head that maybe black they where perched on the top of some trees making alot of noise then flew and broke into 2 groups we didnt get a to good a look at them but 2 of them sat in tree for a few minutes before flying off.
