Townsend's Warbler. Rare winter visitor in BC?

Today on the way to school in Victoria BC I saw a Townsend's warbler on a Garry Oak tree right beside the side walk. All my bird books say they only winter north to Washington not to bC. Is this an unusual bird to see in winter in British Columbia? It could be nothing else since I could correctly identify it without binoculars and I got within 3 feet of it. I've never seen one this late in the year here.

That is kinda unusal...But if you guys are having a winter like we are in Ontario...like 50 degrees in January, then it doesn't surprise me....In Ottawa this week there was a Black-throated Green Warbler still hanging around!!! BIZZARRE!!!!
