In May of 2008, my wife and I visited 7 US National Parks in a little over a week - Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion.
While this isn't a very bird-rich region, there are still some very cool birds in the area. And honestly - and this comes from a birder whose wife complains that the only thing I think of when planning trips is the birds - this trip would have been worthwhile even if I saw 0 birds the entire trip. This region is just amazing beyond words.
