I spend 7 months in Sweden last year (3+4 months), but somehow I was always there at the wrong time of the year to see owls. So this year I made a plan to go there at the most perfect time, end of may - beginning of June, when the owls are nesting.
With a huge help from the friendly people from Leksands Fågelklubb
especially Henry, who is monitoring the nest boxes and ringing the owl chicks, I managed in just one week to see 4 owl species (for me a "lifers" since I never saw them before): Great Grey owl, Ural owl, Tengmalm's owl and Pygmy owl. What an experience!
I also made some very nice photos of Cranes. They are also nesting in Sweden at that time of the year and they can be easily photographed from the car if you see them somewhere by the road. I just love cranes :)
Few photos in attachment, more photos here... :)
Great pictures!
