Hello everyone,
I spent three weeks birding in South Africa last May. Initially I had thought about covering part of Namibia and Botswana as well, but finally opted to concentrate in SA. Rough seas outside the cape forced me to cancel my pelagic outing, but otherwise I was quite lucky with the weather. Very cold at high altitudes!
I used Rockjumper Birding Tours to design the itinerary, and was accompanied by one of their guides. Considering the time of the year (beginning of winter) the trip was a great success, with all the endemics I was expecting to see plus great game and wildlife watching. I even got to see a good number of reptiles.
Although I have known the guys at Rockjumper for a long time, this has been my first trip with them, and I reccommend them to anyone looking for a private or group tour to any of their destinations.
You can see a complete report with many photos at http://www.iyufera.com/htm/tr-southafrica-01.htm
Best regards,
A really outstanding and attractive report, Ignacio, and photos to die for! Particularly like the Ground Woodpecker and Drakensberg Rockjumper, both of which would very high on the list of species I'd want to see (amongst countless others). South Africa is one of those places I've been wanting to visit for a long time. Your report might have helped me decide at last where to go this winter.

On your website I think you do yourself a disservice when you say that your photography is not good. To me it is absolutely stunning. I thought my husband's pics were pretty good with a digital SLR but this is in another league (not that I would tell him that!)
Excellent report!
