Sociable plover in Dubai

One adult at the same site two spent the winter last year. Hopefully it'll stay into breeding plumage like the last ones did and hopefully it's turning into a regular wintering spot.

Good news and what a great looking bird, in fact the one last year was new to the database.

Here is a picture of it for anyone who hasn't seen or heard of it before.

How about a Sociable Plover seen for the last few weeks on Rainham marshes in Essex, an Rspb site not yet open to the public , but opened this weekend (11 and 12 dec) to see the bird.
