I have started up my self found list and does this mean its just birds that i have discovered or ones that i havent twitched
The two should mean the same!
A self-found list is a list of birds you have found for yourself, not ones that you've been told about and then gone to see already knowing they were there.
But it does get very hard to define 'self-found' with so much information around . . . does reading a published bird reserve list saying "Chaffinch is common at this reserve" prevent you from self-finding a Chaffinch at that reserve?
It's a silly and futile way of listing, for several reasons - not least of which is referred to by Pete.
What matters is that you enjoy and learn from the birds you see.
'Self-found' lists are often (but not always, I hasten to add) kept by people who feel they have something to prove.
