Watchit BF dudes!
missing u already......
nice place, bus system hard to navigate, makes for a bit of fun!
curry is hottest i've had but beer is cold!
not much real primary forest left but population pressures here are not as bad as other south Asian areas.
been birding hard (don't use tapes so i'm really having to work) but got all the endems at Sinharaja forest including Green-billed Coucal and Spurfowl (many folk dip these), Ceylon Scaly Thrush, Spot-winged Thrush and great daytime views of two Chestnut-backed Owlets. Leeches aplenty too - I'm minus a fair bit of blood at the moment i think!
Uda Walawe Nat. Park. was amazing and gave up a Lesser Adjutant (big surprise) 8-9 Malabar Pied Hornbills, Blue-faced Malkoha, Crocodile, stunning views of Changeable Hawk Eagle and we managed to get our jeep charged by an over protective elephant - i was a little scared
Ceylon Small Barbet at Kandy's Temple of the Tooth (sposed to be Buddha's molar they say....honest!)
not many to go now - just the upland stuff - no hope of the bloody Scops Owl really. Then a couple of dude days buying nice stuff and beering it up
then back on 18th for a footy game in evening to limber up for conservation Cup at BBWF. Fly back via Maldives so any small white bird seen over the sea will be a fairy tern OML.
hope to see some of u at BBWF - comments on the tan will be appreciated
take it easy
