After a long flight (I got upgraded to business class at Madrid - I have no idea why, just got lucky: ´Por favor´; uh oh, what´s wrong?; Ýou are flying business today´ ´Great, muchos graÇias!´)
My luck lasted until Quito when we got diverted to Guayaquil at the other end of the country due to a flooded runway. I eventually made it to Quito at 0330 yesterday morning instead of 1650 the night before, absolutely shattered!
Plenty of birds about, as you´d expect - hummers, tanagers, etc. It looks like I am staying for at least three months, maybe longer depending if I can get an extension and if I can be bothered to come back to the UK!
