Partial Albino Female Cardinal

Just wanted to share this pretty girl who visits my feeders daily. I've named her Bronwyn, which to my understanding is an old Scottish name that means "white of breast", (and I couldn't find any pretty girl names that meant "white of head" lol)

I've read that partial albinism is not uncommon in duller birds, but quite rare in brightly colored birds.

I've seen her with her fledglings, but it appears they are both male. I've also last week seen more courtship feeding with her mate, so I'm hoping this second brood will result in a female she might pass this genetic variation on to. Wouldn't that be exciting? I've grown so attached to the site of her, I dread the day she no longer comes around.

wow, that sure is one cute, if not different!

Hi and welcome to the forum. What a fabulous bird! You're about to find out that I'm absolutely desperate to see a cardinal as we don't get them up here. This little girl is priceless! You're so lucky to have her! I've had a couple of brushes with leucistic birds like this one lately. All last winter, I was lucky enough to have a leucistic common redpoll at my feeders. Here once in a while, I'll see a leucistic purple finch who is orange more than red, like the others. It's wonderful to have such different birds around. I believe you are truly blessed to have this pretty girl in your yard. I'm jealous!!
