Okanogan Lake



Went to the Northern end of Okanogan Lake BC for a week and a half. Stayed there at my cabin(more like a house) here's all the birds I saw
Western Tanager
Great horned Owl
Pileated Woodpecker(saw over 10 of these in under 2 minutes in the same area)
Tree Swallow
Barn Swallow
California Quail
Osprey( 3 spent half the day on a weeping willow just sitting there)
Spotted Sandpiper
Turkey Vulture
House Sparrow
North western Crow
Bald Eagle
Williamson's Sapsucker
Downy Woodpecker
Northern Flicker
Peregrine Falcon
Northern Goshawk
Anna's Hummingbird
Calliope Hummingbird
Rufous Hummingbird(one of them came to our garden and said hello every morning coming within a few feet. I think its the same one every year)

Northern Rough Winged Swallow
Black billed Magpie
Western Kingbird(These guys were every where like house sparrows in Victoria even though I only see these guys when I"m on vacation in Central BC)

Cedar Waxwing( these guys hung around our porch for an hour during the morning while I was having breakfast)

Rainbow Trout(caught one almost 1 1/2 feet long good tasting)

All in all a very good trip.


Sounds like my kind of fishing trip. There isn't anything better than sitting in a boat with a pole watching an osprey and listening to the loons.


Great list of birds. Hope to get out that way in the next month or two.
