Norfolk report (Part Three - Day 4)

The plan for today - Snettisham and Titchwell. Snettisham - what a trek that is, carrying tripod and camera gear from the car park to the hides - knackered before we even got there!

Saw some WHITE-FRONTED GEESE just past the car park. Got one picture (of the back of a goose) before moving on - i was going to get some more on the way back, but when we did get back they'd gone - of course! Nothing unusual about, but i enjoyed the Brent geese and the Ringed plover on the beach.

Moved onto Titchwell, for a guided tour by one of the RSPB volunteers. I'm not a lover of these, but thought we might get to see a few more things, as he'd know the best places to look. As we had some time to kill before the "tour", we went to the nearest hide - nothing their. Just as we were leaving, Postcardcv introduced himself and his little girl. Apparently, i was recognised by my Nikon (no, not my girlfriend's name) and the Tamron lens! Spend half an hour in pleasant chat.

Pretty good couple of hours, with a count approaching 60. Very distant views of VELVET SCOTER and Long-tailed ducks amongst the Common scoters, Spotted Redshank, Mediterranean Gull, a Meadow pipit on the beach and a couple of Egyptian Geese in a tree!

Rounded off the day with a short visit to Dersingham Bog. Not much of note their, and no sign of Golden pheasants on the way! Oh well, saw a few deer, rabbits and a weasel.

Nice reports rezmole..........interesting to me as i am heading that way on the 7/4.

So would you recommend the guided tour at Titchwell or not?

Does it have to be booked in advance or on the day?

Cheers

Mark
