My Weekend List



The following is my list of birds sighted during the Delmarva Birding Festival held 4/28 - 4/30 on the eastern shore of Maryland: Horned Lark, Killdeer, White-crowned Sparrow, Pine Warbler, Great-crested Flycatcher, Black & White Warbler, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Eastern Towhee, Northern Parula, Red-eyed Vireo, Prairie Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler, White-eyed Vireo, Yellow-throated Warbler, Ovenbird, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Pileated Woodpecker, Yellow-throated Vireo, American Redstart, Swamp Sparrow, Common Yellowthroat, Chipping Sparrow, Northern Bobwhite, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Boat-tailed Grackle, Green Heron, Green-winged Teal, Orchard Oriole, Am. Black Duck, Greater Yellowlegs, Lesser Yellowlegs, Tree Sparrow, Great Blue Heron, Wood Duck, Royal Tern, Common Tern, Oystercatcher, Doube-crested Cormorant, Snowy Egret, Great Black-backed Gull, Laughing Gull, Bonaparte's Gull, Purple Sandpiper, Ruddy Turnstone, Willet, Common Loon, Red-throated Loon, Black-bellied Plover, Little Blue Heron, Forster's Tern, Great Egret, Red-breasted Merganser, Glossy Ibis, Osprey, Dunlin, Cedar Waxwing, Bald Eagle, Barn Swallow, Tree Swallow, Field Sparrow, Black Vulture, Eastern Kingbird, Wild Turkey, Brown Thrasher, Great Blue Heron, Red-tailed Hawk (one w/rabbit in talons), plus all the more common Cardinal, N. Mockingbird, Am. Goldfinch, Carolina Wren, Herring and Ring-billed Gulls. Heard: Wood Thrush, Hooded Warbler, Louisana Waterthrush and Chuck-wills-widow. Life bird list: Kentucky Warbler, Blue-headed Vireo, Common Snipe and Piping Plover.

It was an incredible birding weekend and plan to go back next year.
