I live quite far north of the normal range of this bird so according to our regional checklist it is a rare winter visiter. I live in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. This Carolina Wren seem to be a frequent visitor to my girlfriend's mom's bird feeders for the last couple of weeks. Might stay over the winter.
Hope she keeps the feeder full and the bird finds a warm roosting place. Carolina Wren populations can experience large die-offs when severe winters occur--even several hundred miles south of Ontario.
Good birding,
Phalarope
She keeps her five plus bird feeders full all year. She gets a lot of bird species, I've also observed Northern Cardinals (another southern species), a House Wren, Evening Grosbeaks, White-Breasted Nuthatches at her place among others. She has likely had over 50 species of birds in her back yard, compared to our measly 20 (frontyard & backyard included).
