The Goldies weren't playing that day.
The rest of the week was great as we had a good idea of where to look, especialy on the monday night - the day was a bit crap as we couldn't decide what to do and the weather wasn't realy in our favour that week. That night though we decided to have a good drive around to look for Goldies as we knew where abouts they were. Anyway my other half suddenly noticed something in the water (I thought it was another Shag) so I pulled off road and switched the engine off. She only cought a glimpse of an otter before it dissapeared. Half an hour later just before we left - up it came again not very far away from the shore - and just stayed there looking straight at us for about a minute before submerging again. Magic..
One place worth visiting is the Wings Over Mull birds of prey conservation centre and sanctaury. They have a Golden Eagle there (unfortunatly dissabled) and an American Bald Eagle (also dissabled) as well as owls and hawks. They have a wildlife rescue and reabilitaion programme.
Wings Over Mull
Finaly saw the Goldies on the Thursday, and the White Tailed flying around on the Friday hunting for food (needed a scope for both as they were quite a distance away)
Will deffinatley be going back some time maybe in October.
One bit of advice though - take a 4x4 I'm glad we did|

Good to read your report on Mull. We love the place too though we prefer to stay half way down the island - Gruline/Salen area - then we can make day trips in all directions. We found the standing stones in the forest above Dervaig fascinating. We drove up & down Loch na Keal (?) most days and saw both eagles. Stayed at the Glenforsa Hotel last year as a special treat.
Hope to visit Mull later this year. Good bird list you had!
