Just reading the latest edition of Birdwatch magazine and there is an article about bird races. I've never done one (probably because I'm useless at identification :-) but the article got me wondering. What is a "good" day record? What are other birders day records. I live near the coast and have access to fields, farmlands, woods, moors and rivers so I should be able to spot a lot! However, when I go out I don't usually spend all day, just a few hours. So far my best day record is 57. I was just wondering how this compares to other members.
The most I have seen was 84 .

63 during half a day at Titchwell last year in September with the local RSPB group. My first coastal birding, so I got 12 (or 13?) lifers, including the Red-necked Phalarope that stayed for a while.
