Life lists, downloadable?

Hi all,
I'm keen to computerise my life list (and other lists in general), does anybody know if there is any decent software out there for this purpose. I've been birding for 25 years now and have travelled quite a bit since I became a working man and have amassed a life list somewhere in the region of 1520+. Before I start pounding the keyboard in excel it would be nice to know if i can download or buy software to save me all that effort. I'm keen to attempt to get down all subspecies as well as in this day and age I think they have become more important to acknowledge.

Cheers, hope someone can advise.

Mark

Mark,

There are several such products on the market. One that I use and this is popular in the US is Avisys:

http://www.avisys.net/

Dedicated listing software has several advantages over using a generic spreadsheet or word processing app. The programs include a list of all of the world's species so it's point and click, no need to type names. They also offer hierarchical locations, so if you see a lifer in your local patch, a single entry updates your world, UK, county and local patch lists. Some programs, including Avisys, can print checklists for every country in the world (if you purchase the optional add-on). I have no financial interest in Avisys. Glen
