World Trip Reports

Kennemerland, Holland

Spent a half day birding Kennemerland walking from Sanpoort Noord to Ijmuiden via "Strand" - unidentified hippo warblers, tree pipit, nightingale, marsh tit, pied fly, lesser spotted woodpecker, redstart, golden oriole juv, gs and green pecker the best for me being from Ireland (also a very light coloured common buzzard and presumed fem hen harrier (poss montigue's?). A bit disappointed in the lack of variety (Strand pool was quiet though i saw and heard what i took to be a reed warbler there - apparently great reed warbler is more likely?) No bluethroat to be seen - didn't get as far as the shore. Perhaps the more southern part of the reserve is more productive?

Nevertheless a very nice walk also punctuated by various deer and "aurochs"...
