World Trip Reports

Is what I saw "rare"?

Hey everyone...

This is my very first post and I hope someone can answer me. I live in Northern West Michigan, and saw a pair of Carolina Wrens on my feeder today. I was under the impression that these cuties resided far more south in the state than where I live.

Is this sighting unique? I've lived here for 11 years and have never seen a Carolina Wren, let alone a pair. Are they perhaps en route to someplace else?

If anyone has any information, do tell.

They are darling little birds.

Bella

Hello Bella and on behalf of the staff here at BirdForum, a warm welcome to you.

The one guide I have at hand at the moment shows the Carolina Wren in your area for all seasons but scarce in the northern part of the state. They are marvelous little vocalizers aren't they?

Yes, their song is what made me get up and look outside to see them. I noticed it was much different from the usual songs I hear.

I've had a banner "Back Yard" year, seeing many firsts...A Northern Harrier, Kestrel, Horned Owl, brown Creeper, Piliated and Red headed Woodpeckers, to name a few...now I can add this cheery little wren to the lot!

Thanks for the welcome!

Bella
