hoopoes sighted in michigan (USA)

i saw a pair of hoopoes in a field west of kalamazoo. i was looking for bobolinks, pipits and some other birds that fly through west michigan on their way north in the spring and i came across 2 hoopoes (couldent tell the sexes apart, as these where the first flesh & blood hoopoes ive seen) flicking through corn stalks looking for worms or beetles id guess. they hopped around for a few minutes and then flew away when i tried to get closer. unfortunalty i dident have a camera on me so i have no visual record to upload here id guess theyd be the first records for this state and perhaps for the eastern US, as ive heard theyve only been recorded in alaska and yukon as vagrants in this continent up till now.

that was exactly a year and a half ago just to clarify.

Whatever your on ...... can we have some?
