World Trip Reports

Halkidiki , Greece late September

Stayed at Fourka for a week from 24th Sept to 1st October.
Not a birding trip as such - just a chill out with the wife but thought I'd post here hoping it may be of interest to anyone.
Basically there was a fair bit of visible migration going on , which given the dates isn't that surprising. Large numbers of hirundines passed through with the dominant species changing day to day. Red-rumps, house and sand martins and swallows. 2 or 3 swifts too.
In the olive groves there was a steady passage of common phyllloscopus warblers , red-backed shrikes, and spotted and female-type ficedula flycathers.Should have taken a better field guide 'cos I need semi-collared and there was a fair chance that some were. Turtle doves also passing in small flocks.
Also had a single lesser spotted eagle and one levant sparrowhawk.
Residents included singing cirls , buzzards , sardinians , hoodies , crested larks and kingfisher.
