Hi,
Yet another request for information!
I am spending christmas and new year in Gothenburg with my girlfriends family. I have spent a few holidays there but have done very limited birding. However, I aim to do a bit during the winter break and I was wondering if anyone had any good birding sights in the area and what i may possibly encounter - woodpeckers, owls etc. Any chance of Black woodpecker? Of the limited species I have seen have included great grey shrike, scandiniavian race willow and long tailed tits and not much else of particular interest.
Does anyone know the current status of waxwings in sweden/gothenburg given the irruption of the species at present?
Thanks in anticpitation.
Cheers
Matt
Hi Matt,
I have visited Sweden many times and when I was thinking of moving there, I picked up a guide from the Embassy in London called 'Birding Southern Sweden.' It covers all areas South of Stockholm.
I've just been through my bookshelf, and still have a copy. As I won't be moving there now, you are welcome to it so please PM me with address if you would like it.
Hej da!
Darren
