Hello All,
Question about telephoto lens one might need for a trip to the Galapagos. I have been told that long lens are really not needed because of the ability to get close to your subjects.
I see that Dennis and Chris D reported on their trips from a couple of years ago, but I did not see a mention of camera equipment.
I would hate to get there and realize I left a lens at home that I would like to have. On the other hand I don’t want to carry something that big and not use it.
We will spent most of our time on the islands w/two days in the country side around Quito.
Thanks for your inputs.
Ciao
Dick
On the islands you have to be carefull where you walk to avoid stepping on Blue Footed Boobies or their nests during the breeding season, so yes you can get very close to some birds and other wildlife. But having said that there are always those birds and mamals that are too far for a standard lens, if I were you, I would take one telephoto zoom, something up to 300-400mm and one short zoom like a 28-105mm. 2 lenses should be able to cover all your needs, although a Macro lens could also be useful.
