DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY/GOLDEN EAGLE

Perhaps not a huge rarity but can a BF member in that county say whether golden eagles are occasionally seen at sea level? In a field? This is what we saw on Monday this week. It was feeding on a large gull and we watched it for 20 mins. Thought at first it might be a buzzard but then the size and 'trousers' meant it could only be a goldie

they are known to visit low areas, although most common in the 'upland areas'.

you were lucky to watch it feed for 20 mins too. eagles dont tend to spend much time on flat ground, they tend to stick to vantage points at all times when feeding/resting etc.

Hope it was we are going to D & G next month.
