In July I was paddling on a canoe down the Desna river in Chernihiv oblast, North Ukraine.
Very common there are White Storks, Grey Herons, Common Terns and different gulls. But the real surprise was to meet a Black Stork, and not the only! I saw Black Storks in four different places. Seems, they are not so rare in these places and are getting closer to inhabited areas.
Many are the Oystercatchers and Little Ringed Plovers. Also I met a Redshank, a Ruff and a Terek Sandpiper.
New species for me was also a Yellow Wagtail, rather numerous in brushwood near the river, along with Pied Wagtails, Reed Buntings, Marsh Warblers and others.
Also I saw a Black Kite several times. And one day brought a real success - a White-tailed Eagle seen in the sky.
Interesting report. Thank you for telling us about your birds.
