This summer my whole family and I drove across the United States, From NY to CA. We stopped in a lot of states; Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, and more. We visited 21 National Parks, and camped for the most part in the parks. But the best part for me was the birds. A family of Great Horned Owls in Rocky Mountain NP, a Golden Eagle that took off from the roadside and flew near the car in Nevada, and colonies of Murres and Guillemots on the California coast, and more. When we were in Yosemite, only ten feet from us, a Common Raven pounced on a young ground squirrel and pummelled it with its powerful beak (Its attempt to capture the rodent was thwarted by a valiant attack from Ma squirrel). As I swam in Lake Mead, Nevada, a Clark's Grebe fished and dove 50 feet away. I stood on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and marveled at the scenery, when a Condor flew right over me (I didn't find out it was a condor until my dad and I looked at a field guide). It was great! If you want to ask for details, or you have a question, just post here. Thanks!

Wow. What a wonderful trip!!
You have just succeeded in making me more excited about my upcoming trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion NP and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (I'll be leaving on May 12th). Wouldn't it be wonderful if I got to see a Condor and maybe get a photo too?
My cameras and I are ready!!
