Cirl Bunting

Spending a week in Devon early July and would like to get cirl bunting. Anyone have a favourite spot (name or OS map ref. welcome).
Suppose I had also better go and see if there are any ibises about whilst I am there. (where on earth is Bowling Green?).

Many thanks in anticipation of some info. Any other good sites here also welcome as it is not an area I am very familiar with.

James,

easiest place by far is Prawle Point. When you get to Prawle village car park and see that the road ahead says dead end KEEP DRIVING - there is a small car park at the end of the track (C.1.5 miles) that is where you will find the Buntings.

To get to Bowling Green come off the M5 at the junction signposted Exmouth, Sidmouth (J31??) and head towards Exmouth. At the roundabout by the Goerge & Dragon pub turn right. continue for about half a mile past the pub painted pink (on your right) and take the next left at the top of the hill -(It's a pretty sharp bend) Continue for about 400 yds & you will see the marsh in front of you. Park carefully and walk along the road to the hide & viewing platform.

Very many thanks, I really think that this site is great and birders must be some of the most friendly and helpful people around!

Just a thought, my wife Jeannine and I (both keen birders) will be in Devon from 5th July late pm until the 11th (leaving on the 12th) Anyone fancy a day showing us their favourite sites. Naturally we will cover all expenses and the odd pint. Always happy to return the favour in the North West.
