Well, this isn't a trip report - it's a tale of woe. A four week guided trip to Chile (with Fantástico Sur who are great) should have been the holiday of a lifetime. Then my partner Ann managed to break her hip at the end of the third week.
I won't bore you with all the gory details but I will offer some advice - if you're birding abroad, don't skimp on travel insurance and take a photocopy of your cover note with you.
But apart from the disaster, I should say that Chile is a great country and the birding is brilliant.
Really bad luck and we wish Ann all the best and a speedy recovery. A broken hip would be awful anywhere but if there's one consolation, it happened at the end of your trip rather than the start and you have some excellent memories of your Chilean trip before the accident.
regards,
Andy
