Some images and a short account of a family holiday to Florida can be viewed on my Blog :- http://robinsbirds.blogspot.com/
Not the best time of year but managed to combine 124 species with days out with the family including one full day birding with a local Floridian birding pal.
Highlights for me were :-
Seeing the Shuttle Launch
Snail Kites both perched and feeding
Ruby-throated Hummer
Red-cocaded Woodpecker
Pileated Woodpeckers - wow!
Bald Eagles
Scrub Jays
and I could go on............
Great photos and report Robin. I was in Florida this October and had a great time. I got all my main target species (Scrub Jay, Caracara, Bald Eagle, Black Skimmer, Red-headed Woodie) although I missed White Pelican and Red-cockaded Woodie. Highlight of my trip was a Pygmy Rattlesnake.
Nice report and photos, Robin.
Good to see that you went to Fort de Soto - I am always amazed by the commercial birding vacations that visit Florida and miss FdS, which I reckon offers possibly the best birding in the state.
