Not strictly a vacational trip report as I'm attending a conference in the small village of Caux, which is about 90 mins from Geneva at an altitude of 3,000 feet above sea level. Fortunately there is time to get some walks in the area which is heavily forested. Seeing a lot of birds is not easy but black redstarts are common on the houses. Among the more interesting birds I've seen so far are:
black kites (common)
buzzard
white wagtail
crossbill
crested tit,
nutcracker
marsh tit
house sparrow
firecrest
nuthatch
blackcap (common)
spotted flycatcher
mistle thrush and blackbird (both common)
blue, coal, great tit
common swift
black, green, great spotted woodpecker
So I've not done too badly.
