Day 1
Febuary7-Tsawwassen Jetty and Ferry
Today was mostly a traveling day but did bird the Tsawwassen Jetty
and the ferry trip.First bird seen at the airport was House Sparrow
followed by Northwestern Crow,European Starling and Rock Dove.
On the #620 bus to the jetty seen many birds feeding in the fields .
Including unidentified swans and one shorebird.Did see Mallards,
Red-tailed Hawk,Bald Eagle and Great Blue Heron.
My plan today was lug around my wheeled suitcase at the ferry
terminal and bird close by.Lots of birds around including Surf Scoter,
Horned Grebe,Red-breasted Merganser,Bufflehead,Harlequin
Ducks,surprise of the day 10 Brant,Double-Crested Cormorant,
Black Oystercatcher,Green-winged Teal,Glaucous-winged Gull,
Common Loon and Pacific Loon. The ferry was uneventful but did
see loads of Pacific Loons and Pelagic Cormorants.
Was a beautiful sunny day and quite a change from Winnipeg weather!
Way overdressed with my longjohns on!First major mistake of the trip,
forgot my attachment to connect my scope and tripod at home.Had
to attach the scope to the tripod with white tape!
