I'm not really a birder but I have a question and maybe some interesting details about what I believe are blackbirds in my area. I have lived in my present home for the 3rd summer now. The first two summers, the concrete around my in-ground pool was the regular color and I had no problems with birds. This year I painted the concrete a terracotta red and I can't stop the blackbirds from either landing on my concrete and dropping feces from their beaks onto the concrete, or dropping the feces from the air onto the concrete. My concrete looks like it's been strafed by F-16 Fighting Falcons all the time. Can anybody out there tell me how to get them to stop their fecal ways? Can I block them, reroute them, paint my concrete another color, etc.?
Repaint your poopdeck a lighter colour maybe?? Must admit I've never heard of anything like this before.
