Fingers Crossed !
Pair of freshly arrived birds at a (suitable?) location at 06.30 this morning
Would that be ********, Steve ? - I'm planning on a trip to see them if they're still around later in the week.
For several years, including this one, we've had them turn up singly and in pairs at our local ponds around Saltholme. Sometimes they stay for days and other times just overnight. Last year I managed superb views from just a few yards away, but I'm still looking to get a reasonable photo. This year they've stayed too distant for decent views.
Ian,
I know there's quite a few egg-collecters & dodgy taxidermist in the South East of the Co. Durham..................
There are also a boat load up here!
Im very new to this bird computing stuff, but i would have thought that Your question would have been better sent as a private E.Mail ??
IF, - these birds do settle, amongst the motor bike scramblers and Twokked & burnt out cars then word will undoubtably get out, (as it did for the Weardale birds few year back).
BUT, i dont won't people pointing the finger, saying ive been shouting my mouth off & giving away Sites for Protected Species.
Birds have enough to contend with without Birders potentially jeopardizing their chances.
I have got to say though at the end of the day the initial error may well have been MINE.
i will think twice now.
See you later.

#FOR THE RECORD i rang two people, who have experience in Guarding Very Rare Birds on Sunday to inform them of the birds prescence in order to take any necessary action.
