This is by far and away my most memorable bird.
The first time I saw it I was on my way to work. It was perched on the phone wires. I nearly drove into a parked car craning my neck to get a good look.
I searched and searched on the web until I discovered what kind of bird it was.
I live in El Segundo, which is in Southern California just south of the L.A. Airport. This was a rare bird for these parts.
A few weeks later I was stunned to look out my window and find my "it" bird at my feeders. I had put out some meal worms and the Jay was feasting on them.
Thankfullly it hung around long enough for me to get a few quick grab shots of it.
The Jay hung around El Segundo for about a month then disappeard.
What a beauty! I have never heard of this species, so I'm gonna look up as much as I can now!
Great sighting!
