This is a depressing game... but what are the birds not on your (choose appropriate) list that you think will be you next additions. My UK list is an unexceptional 372 and I have't got the following on it which I would expect to have by now in order of liklihood
1. Rosy Starling I have to find one of these on my lawn so I've never really bothered to see one - I have seen other people watching one in Yorkshire, but was on crutches and too slow to get up a hill to see it. I will go and see the next nearby one - well I will if its in Cheshire!
2. American Golden Plover I'm pretty sure I've seen two of them (flight only) it can't be long before I finally nail one
3. Caspian Tern Never got close to one - but never really tried either... will go for the next one in Cheshire if I haven't found one on the beach first!
4. Purple Heron One of only two non BB rarity birds that I haven't seen. Its years since there was one up here though, so perhaps its optimistic to put it this high
5. White-tailed Eagle The other one! Actually I have seen on, but I removed it from my list becasue I couldn't have told it wasn't a (dirty)sheep on the view I had... I've even been to Mull and avoided them.
6.Black Kite Still no Cheshire record, but surely I can't avoid this species for ever
7.Glossy Ibis I was on my way to Fair Isle the day the last one turned up in Cheshire...maybe I'll bump into one of the long stayers sometime.
8. Hume's Warbler Actually I have seen a few, but not since the split so the ones I saw were never subjected to the rigour of a BBRC assessment. This should probably be higher.
9. Iberian Chiffchaff Ditto, except its about 10 pre split records..next spring! (or perhaps someone will get DNA on the Dibbinsdale bird to make up for its lack of plumage features and song structure!)
10. Least Sandpiper Just the only American Wader apart from AGP above and SB Dowitcher that I haven't seen. Surely there will be one up here soon and I'm very very likely to go for it.
That factor btw relegates, Red-breasted Goose, Lesser White-fronted Goose and a wide range of ducks to lower in this list.. I'd have to see them by accident :)
Black Kite is the biggest miss for me......
still hoping for one this year at Waxham maybe
