numerous LBJs, too quick to identify!
On one day we walked down from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen. This is where I saw the Black Redstart, Treecreeper and Alpine Swift. I though I could hear Goldcrest and I would think it should be a good place for Woodpeckers. Also I understand from people who visited earlier in the year that there are Wallcreepers there.

Its many years since I went but I can confirm woodpeckers are good in that area. I had Black and Three-toed between Wengen and the Reichenbach falls (and some very dark Red Squirrels and Ibex) as well as Citril Finches, Water Pipits, Ring Ouzels and Nutcrackers.
There were Marmots by the rack railway between Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg and both Alpine Choughs and Snow Finches at KS.
We had Wallcreepers at the Grindelwald Gletscherschlucht (say that after a few drinks), both inside the gorge and on the crags at the entrance, viewable from the cafe. There were Goldne Eagles overhead occasionally and Black-bellied Dippers on the streams.
Down the hill we had Crag Martins from the lake steamer on the lower of the two lakes around Interlaken.
Added to all this the scenery was stupendous and although I know nothing about flowers, because we were there in spring the meadows were fantastic.
A lovely area.

hi pat,
just a short note to sp in your list. pied wagtail will have been white wagtail (the continental ssp. motacilla alba alba and herring gull will have been yellow-legged gull larus michahellis probably, the most common large gull in that area.
