Found a bairds sandpiper this morning at goldcliff gwent (3rd county record) coincidentally in 2000 I found the 2nd county record also at goldcliff. All those hours spent peering at waders paying off. Had rubbish although lengthy views this morning and had to walk away to go to work, unhappy without positively clinching it. Luckily Mike Pointon who was with me at the time stayed on and confirmed it later. Lovely selection of waders this morning around the reserve as well, curlew sands, little stints, ruffs, green sand, spotted redshank, little ringed plover. Magic.
Wonder if it was the Tresco Baird's Sandpiper that flew off last night.
Getting Greedy John.
well done!
