Anglesey 20 & 21 Sept, 36 Hours In Wales

ANGLESEY, PART ONE SAT 20 SEPT 2008
Having been offered a great opportunity to visit Anglesey for the first time, bunking down in Ed & Fay's Caravan on Saturday night at Newborough, Tina and I jumped at the chance.
Despite a flat tyre on Sat morning and an hours tailback at the Conway Tunnel, on Sat afternoon we arrived safely at South Stack at 15.00.
We gave up counting buzzards on the way down, having counted 20 from Chester to the Britannia bridge.
The weather was great and the views fantastic.
As the sunshine beamed down on us with a light sea breeze blowing, the only disapointment was no birds, or at least very few at the Stack.
Following the cliff path walks, gleaned four pairs of stonechat, six wheatear, four chough, one kestrel, two linnet, a raven, numerous herring and black headed gulls, several charms of goldfinch, a big flock of starling, building up for the winter.
We then headed back for Newborough, arriving at about 18.30

Thanks for the info on the traffic problems there, we're heading down to Anglesey for a week on Saturday. Looks like an early start is called for to avoid the hold ups at the tunnel.
