My 8 year old son is desperate to see a Golden Eagle and for that reason am planning to go to Scotland during the school summer holidays this year (end July to beginning August).
Does anybody have any recommendations as to locations where we are most likely to spot these birds. Also is there a location where we are less likely to be plagued with the dreaded Scottish midges?
We plan to use our small/medium sized camper -van.; there will be just the 4 of us, 2 x parents & 2 children.

Hi Shaun
The old favourite used to be the Findhorn Glen nr Aviemore but haven't been for 10+ years.
Had lots of G Eagles and a few White Tailed on Mull last year, so much so that by the end of the fortnight the expression was "and another Goldie!"
Also if he likes the birds Mull is fantastic, look into the day trips to Treshnish, excellent for Puffins etc.

Thanks for that Stuart. I will definitely give Mull some serious consideration. My wife and I are keen enough to enjoy a bit of birding on our walkabouts. Trouble is nowadays, with 2 young children, the opportunities to do so are considerably less!
