Just back from a magnificent trip to Colombia, with two other birders from Oregon and my wife, lead by Sergio Ocampo. Lots of endemics and near endemics. North of Bogota, into Boyaca and Santander for Black Inca, Chestnut-bellied Emerald and Mountain Grackle. Then to the Pacific Coast at Bahia Solano for Choco birds and Harpy Eagle, along with Colombia's second Long-billed Curlew. Several days in Antioquia for Chestnut-capped Piha, Red-bellied Grackle, then to Manizales and Pereira for Cauca Guan, Multicolored Tanager, Rusty-faced Parrots (Which we also saw in Boyaca, but a different ssp). A reserve near Armenia held Guira Tanager, Bar-crested Antshrike and Rufous-naped Greenlet. We visited Laguna de Sonso for ducks and shorebirds, but couldn't find a screamer. There was a flamingo there, a probable escapee. After our friends left last Monday, my wife and I spent two days in the Bogota area, not really birding, but we did see an Indigo-capped Hummingbird, Ash-browed Spinetail and Red-crested Cotinga.
I intend to post more, but have to process the photos and all. It is a lovely country, with lots to offer the traveling birder, including a very active ornithology and birding community.
