World Trip Reports

150 Aim

By April 2nd next year I hope to see 150 kinds of Animal! I hope I can reach my aim, I wildlife watch every day I can. I live in Brighton, so quite an urban place, but if anyone can tell me where I can go to watch animals I would be grateful. This year I am going on holiday to Tenerife (3 Days time) and Scotland later this year, and camping in new forest. I hope to visit lots of reserves too including Arundel, Pulborough Brooks, Woods Mill and Old Lodge.

Also at some point Rye Harbour and other places.

My top birds I'd like to add to my list would be

1. Peregrine
2. Avocet
3. Grasshopper Warbler
4. Bearded Tit
5. Marsh Harrier
6. Firecrest
7. Montagu's Harrier
8. Merlin
9. Hobby
10. Wood Warbler
11. Palla's Warbler
12. Serin

If anyone can help with any of my lifelist and seeing rare birds I would be really happy! Thank you

Blimey. You've got some special birds on that list Jake! I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping for a Monty's and Serin!!

Hobby shouldn't be too tricky at this time of year, brush up on your Falcon flight silhouettes and habits and you should be ok, Grasshopper warbler is very distinctive by song- sort of sounds like a fishing reel. Easier heard than seen however!!

If you get a lead on a Monty's, please let me know. That's a must-see bird for me too!

Good luck!

Jake,

There is also some good advice dispensed in this earlier thread:
